Porcupine Tree Deadwing Rock Music Cd Review

Deadwing is the latest Rock CD put out by the extremely group Porcupine Tree and they have once again delivered a brilliant collection of tracks. I’m confident Porcupine Tree fans, and Rock fans alike will be pleased with this one.

Unfortunately, it’s not everyday that I get a CD for review that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just can’t force myself to get through. Not at all the case with Deadwing. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

Part I - My Talk With God

[The following is the first part in a series of interviews I had with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. My lawyer told me to say that nothing God [henceforth to be known as THE BIG GUY] says is representative of this blog or interviewer [henceforth to be known as ME]. All opinions, statements and assertions made by THE BIG GUY in no way represents this blog or ME. The opinions, comments and delusions of grander are THE BIG GUY’s own, and no one shall hold this blog, or ME, liable for anything expressed.]

Chinese Wall Scrolls - History, Practice And Artistry

The span of Chinese culture traverses 6,000 years, and the history of Chinese art is almost as long. The art of Chinese painting can be thought to begin with the Chinese written language, because Chinese characters began as simple pictures (or pictographs) thousands of years ago. These have evolved into the Chinese characters seen today. The technique of ‘painting’ those original pictographs naturally flowed into more detailed depictions of landscapes. The same utensils, round pointed brushes made from either goat hair or wolf hair are still used in traditional Chinese painting today. Painting and calligraphy were the two most highly prized arts in the courts of the nobles in ancient China, with calligraphy considered the purest form of art. Writings of famous calligraphers were mounted on scrolls and hung on walls.

The Bluest Eye - A Thought Analysis

In reading Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eye I can see that she is dealing with some very complex problems that have existed within the societies of the world since ancient times. I think that in this book the one society she is writing about is ours in present day, but it can also relate to many different time periods. In particular what our society did to an entire race of people that began in the days of slavery and how its destructive, dehumanizing effects have affected its people and its country to this day. The way I think I see it, after you break it all down to its most basic form is, that when you feel good about yourself, you do good things. When you feel bad about yourself, you do bad things. You need to feel like somebody to keep your integrity and dignity.

Footsteps

I heard your footsteps outside my door.
I heard a slight pause as you reached it.

Were you looking for me?
I knew it was you, I’m not sure how;

A girls intuition I suppose.
I felt a shiver down my spine.

I heard your footsteps walking by my door;
I heard a slight pause as you reached it.
Were you looking for me?

I heard you breathe as if your were going to knock

– but you sighed and kept walking.
I would let you in if you would only ask.
It would be so wonderful to share my thoughts with you.

The White Lady Of Kulmbach A Poem-germany

Prologue - with the advent of the Middle Ages and onto the Renaissance, progress had come to Europe, and important men took the seat of familiarity, it was the time of: William Tell (1306 AD), Edward the III of England, Louis the IV of Bavaria (1333 AD); Othman Empire founded 1299 AD, the first clock, 1348 AD; the French used the cannon in 1308 AD; the Compass, 1320 AD. Window glass was introduced in around 1300, the Dark Ages was over, and on came Martin Luther, 1521 AD; William Shakespeare, 1546, ended up reading his plays to Queen Elisabeth. And then there was growing legends in Kulmbach, and its Castle called Plassenburg.

Venus Retrograde - An Astrological Phenomenon

Venus is the second planet away from the Sun. Venus is the goddess of love, pleasure, and all things about relationships, harmony, music, art and all the beautiful things we have in our world.

Venus retrograde seems to go in ‘backward’ motion–but that is only because Earth, in its larger orbit, is bypassing Venus. And when that occurs, it looks like Venus is going backwards which is not the reality.

Venus only goes retrograde about once every eighteen months in comparison to Mercury, which retrogrades 3 times a year.

Chess - A Game For The Ages

The game we call Chess goes so far back into the murky dimness of history that no one is really sure about the specifics of its origin. But scholars generally believe that Chess originated in what are now Northern India and Afghanistan. The oldest written reference to Chess is circa 600 in India. But this game was not the modern day game of chess we know. This version of the game had pieces representing elephants, infantry, cavalry and boatmen, all commanded by a Rajah. There is evidence that it was played on a board similar to the one used today, a board of 64 squares of alternating colors.
