My mother cringes, “Inexpensive, not cheap, please.”

When writing anything, word choice is a key component. Because of its compact nature, it is even more so with poetry. How the word sounds in relation to the words around it, the point you are trying to make to your reader, and the use of imagery are a few of the reasons why this is so. You can use both denotation and connotation to help you make affective word choices.

Man, the supreme being has got intelligence, reason, emotions and impulses. Cognition, affection, and cognation are the various aspects of human consciousness. The more conscious he is, the more cultured he becomes. He has constantly strive for mental (intellectual) culture sad aesthetic culture. The fruits of his love for learning and quest for beauty and excellence are the various sciences and art .Cultivation of arts is art and parcel of aesthetic culture.

A Poem and a Quote

Said, a lady for ‘Independence Day,’ of Peru, 7-28-2007:

“I remember coming back from work (1980-1990s) all the lights in the downtown area of Lima went out (which often happened in those days), and I’d have to run home in fear of the terrorist.

“I also remember all the windows being blown out of the buildings in Lima, especially where I worked, at the telephone company. A car bomb a few blocks away caused 14-floors of glass to break. The terrorist that claimed to be helping the people were devastating the people.

A - B - C - D - E - F - G ~ gee, are these poetry form variations easy - or are they only deceptively simple?

The simplest variation of alphabet poetry consists of creating a twenty-six line poem using the alphabet, with lines beginning with consecutive letters of the alphabet from A to Z. If you decide to live a bit more dangerously, you could write a twenty-six line poem and begin your lines from Z to A.

I am not a poet or a spoken word artist, I am merely a web designer. My name is Abel, and for the last few years I have updated and maintained this website for Matthew “Cuban” Hernandez and the Shattered Thought team. I’ve posted updates, venues, new poetry and videos both here and in YouTube but I’ve never seen a poetry slam before until July 19th, 2007 in San Jose, California. The bells chime, night calls forth restless shadows;

Soft winds drift soulless through the empty night,

Across misty fields, shimmering with light

Darkness brings forth your long forgotten foes.

Sorrowful agonies of the once damned,

Souls Screaming, yearning with silent whisper,

Invoking their soulless cry in despair.

Deathless bodies rise, now walking the land.

Whispering withered moments of torment,

Caressing the warm bodies in desire,

Screaming for the soft living flesh in ire,

Moaning their profound eternal lament.

A life once forgotten now forbidden

Stretching forth its arms, reaching for daylight;

I want to spin and hear a whiz
around my ears and head
I want to charm it like a serpent.

Teach me how I said.
Let me know the wind and all its power.
I want to know it like my dreams describe.

You leaned forward
and kissed my eyes
put your hands behind my ears
bringing me the sound of rainbows.

Give me flowers I said.
There are a million colors to be had.
You pointed toward a unicorn
ready for my adventure
and gave me a map that led to fields of them.

Recently, a dear relative passed away. I tried to find a suitable eulogy poem on the Internet. However, a lot of the poetry was too long, outdated, or oozing with expressive language that didn’t feel natural. Fortunately, with the memorial service taking place a few weeks after the passing of my loved one, I had some time to write my own poetry.

Usually, however, a funeral is arranged within a few days of death. Filled with grief, we are not at our most creative. If you are searching for a short poem or two, please feel free to use some of the poetry in this article.

A lot of students are expected to write a literary essay based on appreciation of poetry. To make the task enjoyable we need to define poetry. What is poetry? Edmund Clarence Stedman said the following: “Poetry is rhythmical, imaginative language expressing the invention, taste, thought, passion, and insight of the human soul.”

Poetry is the creativity of a person’s imagination. Like any other literary work, it needs to be understood to be appreciated. The writer writes for a reason. His purpose may be to evoke emotion, inform, define, represent something of the world or life, entertain … Whatever the case, a poem is unique to its writer. And each poem can be analysed to be appreciated. Here are some general ideas to help you understand the poem you are reading:
